OVERVIEW: CERAM is nestled in an area called Sophia Antipolis, which is located in the south of France, better known as the "French Riviera." Sophia Antipolis is a high tech development park and is considered France's "Silicon Valley." There are over 1,200 companies in high-tech, bio-sciences, and service industries that have their headquarters and research facilities in Sophia Antipolis. CERAM offers undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs in fields such as entrepreneurship, finance, information technology, and management. Founded more than 40 years ago, it is accredited by the French Ministry of Education and the French Riviera Chamber of Commerce. The undergraduate program has over 1,900 students from France and more than 60 countries.
STUDY ABROAD DATES: UF students can enroll during the fall semester and attend courses at CERAM from the first week of September until just before Christmas. UF students who enroll during the Spring semester attend CERAM from the first week of January until early May.
ELIGIBILITY TO PARTICIPATE: undergraduate students who have completed at least one semester at UF with a GPA of 2.5 and are enrolled in a degree program with course requirements that match offerings given at CERAM. Exchange program participants are selected competitively based on academic average, study abroad plan, maturity, ability to adapt to living/studying abroad and relevancy of exchange program coursework to UF degree requirements.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT: although course work is given in English, UF students also have the opportunity to study French. Placement in the appropriate level French courses is by proficiency test, after arrival.
HOUSING ACCOMMODATIONS: housing is arranged for international students by the CERAM International Office in the nearby towns of Antibes and Juan Les Pins. TUITION: exchange participants pay UF tuition based on 12 credits. CERAM tuition is waived for exchange students. Participants are responsible for the costs of transportation, visa application (where applicable), room and board, health insurance and personal expenses.
