UF in Curitiba - Urban Planning in Brazil

The University of Florida Department of Urban and Regional Planning offers a 6-credit program tailored to fit individual academic and research interests. The program will allow students to explore urban issues in a developing country. Lectures and workshops will be held at the Federal University of Paraná in Curitiba. The University of Florida Department of Urban and Regional Planning has developed a program to expose students to urban and regional planning within the context of a Latin American country. Exposure to a different culture enriches the academic experience. The chance to compare initiatives, policies, programs in a different environment spurs creativity and encourages the development of new ideas to be applied in the USA. Most of the time will be spent in Curitiba, internationally renowned for its planning initiatives, where students will participate in studios, workshops and lectures, including urban and regional planning and design studios at the Federal University of Paraná in Curitiba. The program includes two additional workshops, one in São Paulo and one in Maringá. Additional lectures will take place at local and regional government planning agencies. Students will also visit developments and other projects implemented throughout the city. Students are free to organize trips during weekends and holidays while in Brazil. Housing
Students will have lodging in Curitiba at a residence-hotel and in São Paulo and Maringá at commercial hotels. All lodging includes breakfast. Financial Aid University of Florida students needing financial aid should apply through UF Student Financial Affairs (SFA). Non-UF students needing financial aid must apply to their home institutions. Scholarships Partial scholarships for UF students are available on a competitive basis through the the International Center.
