UF in Fiji June 13 - 20, 2010 
The Department of Tourism, Recreation, and Sport Management is offering students at UF an opportunity to earn 3 semester credits while traveling as a group with UF faculty and local field guides throughout the offshore islands and mainland of Fiji. This program offers an interdisciplinary approach to sustaining human societies and their natural environments. - Visit white sand beaches on remote coral atolls
- Participate in a traditional Kava ceremony
- Live with a Fijian family and truly experience life in this island nation

- Time spent in the field, visiting and observing Fiji firsthand with local field guides and professors with expertise in the fields related to sustaining human societies and their natural environments

Eligibility: Students in good standing with UF from all majors may attend. UF in Fiji
The Fiji study abroad program will examine human and cultural aspects of Fijian ecology and the conservation, preservation, and management of Fiji?s unique system of marine, coastal, and mountain/rainforest natural resources. Students will use applications in cross-cultural analysis and techniques to explore the management and conservation of natural resources with a focus on issues related to human use of plant, forestry, wildlife, ecology, recreation and tourism, and/or coastal/water resources. The impact of humans on these resources will also be emphasized, including a long term historical perspective. Our program will focus on topics related to sustainable development (sustaining human societies and the natural environment) with a particular focus on ecotourism. Program Fee: TBA Financial Aid University of Florida students needing financial aid should apply through UF Student Financial Affairs (SFA). Non-UF students needing financial aid must apply to their home institutions. Academic Credits 3 UF credits will be awarded upon successful completion of the program.
