Program Description:

UF in Salzburg - European Studies

European Studies program is ideal for History and Political Science majors. All courses are offered through the Salzburg College.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Homestays with Austrian families with morning and evening meals

  • Walking tours and palace tours

  • Music component also available: Music History and Studio
  • Completion of this program counts for the capstone experience required for EU Studies minors.

Music:

  • Instrumental / Vocal Lessons
  • Music History (MUH 3212 - music majors only)
  • Arranging for Instruments and Voices (MUT 3321)

European Studies: Choose any two of the following courses

  • History, Politics, and Culture of Austria (H, I)
  • Economics and Politics of the European Union (S, I)
  • German course may be available based on demand; please contact the program coordinator.

  • Have a 2.5 GPA
  • Open to all majors
  • Must submit an essay with statement of purpose

The Salzburg academic program was established to provide students with an opportunity to earn six credits for summer study. Two components are offered: European Studies and Music. Instruction is in English (except for the German language class, if available).

Housing

Students are housed in Austrian homes with Austrian families (one or two students per home). The homestay provides a great opportunity to learn about Austrian culture from an insider's perspective. Breakfast and dinner are taken with the host family. Lunch is provided at Salzburg College. Meals are included in the program cost.

Academic Credits

As this is a UF program, credits taken can satisfy major, minor, elective, and summer residency requirements with prior approval. Transfer credit will be granted for all courses taken at the Salzburg College.

Financial Aid

University of Florida students needing financial aid should apply through UF Student Financial Affairs (SFA). Non-UF students needing financial aid must apply to their home institutions.
