| UF in Botswana The program was established to provide students with an opportunity to earn college credits for semester or academic year study in an African nation. From its initial origins as part of a multi-campus university for Basutoland, Bechuanaland and Swaziland, the University of Botswana (UB) came into existence in 1982. Just minutes from central Gaborone, UB is now one of the top universities in the region and has an enrollment of nearly 13,000. Most of these students are Botswana citizens whose full course of studies is sponsored by the government. Travel is possible during term breaks to additional sites in southern Africa, including Johannesburg, Pretoria, and Mapungubwe (South Africa), as well as Chobe National Park and Victoria Falls. Housing The program offers housing at university dormitories where two students are assigned to a room.
