About the Program

Enjoy a 4-week study abroad program in Frankfurt (Oder), Germany. You will meet for classes Monday through Thursday each week on the European University Viadrina campus. Weekends will consist of designated excursions in surrounding cities.

About the Location

Frankfurt (Oder) lies in the heart of Europe near the River Oder directly on the border with Poland. It is about one hour away from the capital of Berlin. A city bridge across the Oder connects Germany to Poland.

You will fly directly into Berlin and spend two days touring this historic city. A one-day trip just outside of Berlin to Sansoucci Park, Potsdam will introduce you to some of the rich history of Germany. The group will also spend a week in another area of Europe.

Optional Independent Study

Students can earn credit towards a minor in International Studies in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences by completing an optional two-week independent study approved and supervised by Dr. Harris. This for-credit independent study takes place during the optional excursion to Wales. Students interested in completing an independent study must also apply here.

You will stay in apartment-style housing with students from around the world. A shared kitchen is available in each apartment to allow for meal preparation and cooking.

Financial Aid

Most financial aid that you would receive on campus during the summer can be applied toward the cost of this study abroad program.

2019 Pricing

2019 Undergraduate Program Fee: TBD

A $350 nonrefundable deposit toward the total cost of the program is due at the time of application. The remaining fees are due no later than 45 days prior to departure. If you receive financial aid, you can defer payment until it disburses. Deferment decisions will be based on the amount of aid to be received.

What's Included:

Tuition for 6 credits, accommodations in Frankfurt (Oder), a one-month transportation pass in Frankfurt (Oder), hostels, tours, activities, group lunch and dinner costs for three excursions, international health insurance, and medical emergency assistance.

What's Not Included:

Course packets, texbooks, round-trip airfare, additional personal travel, and personal expenses. Optional travel to Wales is also not included and is to be determined based on student interest and availability.
