UF in Lippe

Interior Design
Summer A 2018: 4/30/2018 - 6/22/2018

About the Program

The program was developed so that participating University of Florida students, as well as graduate or undergraduate students from other universities, and the Interior Architecture, Architecture, and Construction Engineering students of Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe (University of Applied Sciences) in Germany could benefit from the mutual exchange of design knowledge. German interior architecture and architecture students from the Detmolder Schule für Architektur and Innernarchitektur participate in the program by enrolling in regular courses offered in the Department of Interior Design, and UF students (and other university students) participate in this summer program in Germany. As part of this program students attend lectures and visit various locations to observe different design processes, techniques, and methods used in Germany.

Students will also learn about the history of Germany, its government, the culture and social norms of Germans, preservation techniques, restoration efforts, and construction practices in Germany. In addition, UF students see many points of interest that are of historical, cultural, or architectural importance. The 6-week program also includes completion of a design studio project that utilizes cutting edge lab facilities and additional design firm and industry tours.
