About the Program

Entrepreneurship and Empowerment in South Africa is a life-changing experience where you can help historically disadvantaged entrepreneurs in the townships around beautiful Cape Town, South Africa. Coached by three faculty members, students from UF, Oklahoma State, University of Colorado, and Texas A&M are paired with South African students on consulting teams to assist small business owners over six weeks and help make their ventures sustainable. EESA is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

About the Location

The program takes place in Cape Town, South Africa. Cape Town is the second most-populated city in South Africa. The city is famous for its harbor as well as other landmarks such as Table Mountain and Cape Point.


There are four trips including: Robben Island (where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned), Cape Point, Table Mountain, and a tour of the wine country.


You will be living in dormitories at the University of the Western Cape.

Financial Aid

Most financial aid that you would receive on campus during the summer can be applied toward the cost of this study abroad program; however, all financial aid eligibility is determined by Student Financial Affairs. You must speak with your financial aid advisor to determine what aid can be applied to the cost of this study abroad program, including scholarships.

2018 Pricing:

2018 Undergraduate Program Fee: TBA

A $400 nonrefundable deposit toward the total cost of the program is due at the time of application. The remaining fees are due no later than 45 days prior to departure. If you receive financial aid, you can defer payment until it disburses. Deferment decisions will be based on the amount of aid to be received.

What's Included:

Tuition for 6 UFGPA credits, housing for six weeks, instruction, books, excursions, airport pick-up and return in South Africa, international health insurance, and emergency medical assistance.

What's Not Included:

Round-trip airfare, meals, additional personal travel, and personal expenses.
